Osteopathy Treatment Advice

At Anthony Kanutin Osteopaths in the SS0 area, we aim to make the appointment process as easy as possible for you. Have a look at the frequently asked questions and patient information below.

Frequently asked questions

Q. What are your prices?

A. All appointments are £45. This includes the initial consultation or any follow up sessions. Payment by cash, cheque and bank transfer are welcome. We do not currently take card payments.

Q. What should I wear?

A. It is preferable to be able to view a patient's posture fully, which may involve seeing them in their underwear. We recognise that for some patients this may be unacceptable. Wearing loose tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt will allow us to still examine and treat you efficiently.

Q. Are towels provided?

A. Towels are provided for your comfort, warmth and to retain your modesty. You are welcome to use one should you prefer to keep yourself covered. You may ask for one at any point during your consultation/treatment. Due to Coronavirus we are temporarily unable to provide towels, we are sorry for any inconvenience. You may keep your clothes on during your appointment.

Q. What is your privacy policy and data protection?

A. Please click here for the privacy policy and data protection

Q. Can I bring a chaperone?

A. Please feel free to bring somebody to accompany you during your appointment / treatment. We want you to be comfortable and so if you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask. Please refer to our Coronavirus policy,

Q. Your Consent

A. We need your consent to examine and treat you. You may ask us to stop at any point during the consultation or treatment.

Contact Anthony Kanutin Osteopaths in Westcliff-on-Sea for more details.

Q. Private Medical Insurance

A. We are registered providers for AXA, BUPA and many other insurance companies. You will need to contact them PRIOR to visiting us to obtain an authorisation code. Without this code, we cannot commence treatment under your policy. Please note, you may have a policy excess, so check with your provider.

Q. New Patient Info

A.  In addition to the notes above, you will be seen by a fully qualified registered practitioner.

Please do not hesitate to ask the practitioner to stop the treatment at any time during you appointment either if you are uncomfortable or seek clarification over anything. We welcome questions and want you to understand what is happening.

Practitioners need to know about your health, past and present. You will be asked more detailed questions about your complaint, medical history including operations and illnesses, whether you are taking any medication and about any changes in your general
health. Although some questions may seem unnecessary all this information helps the practitioner to make a diagnosis and a suitable treatment plan for you.

The practitioner may examine and view you whilst you are standing up to assess your posture.

The practitioner may ask you to perform certain simple movements in order to understand and assess your condition.

Further examination will normally be conducted while you lie on the examination couch. The practitioner may do various tests such as blood pressure, reflexes, joint mobility and muscle strength.

The practitioner will make a diagnosis which will be discussed with you and in most cases some treatment will be given. If the practitioner does not think you will benefit from treatment they will explain this to you.

After treatment advice may be given to you to support the treatment and help you to be more comfortable.

If you have any questions before you see any practitioner please ask the receptionist.
